MID_E. Key issues.

Multidisciplinary creation

MID_E International Exhibition, reflection and visibility platform around frontier practices relating arts and the urban culture expressions. The exhibition centres on three areas of multidisciplinary creation that represent this confluence as a focus for the new forms and discourses of avant-garde creation:

CONTEMPORARY FASHION
Fashion practices as a medium of creative expression:
conceptual fashion, haute-couture and art projects on textile media.

ELECTRONIC IMAGE
Electronic and digital media:
Video art, photography, multimedia art, net-art.

DJ-MUSICAL CREATION
Sound sessions and musical scores created or re-elaborated by DJs, music producers and composers.

Together with these, the exhibition expands to other hybrid fields in which practices such as action art, dance and communication interact.

Proximity

MID_E brings the contemporary creation most committed to connecting with present-day society to a mixed audience of both professionals and a non-specialist public.

2 main sections: Reflective section and expository section.
Reflective section: Formed by workshops, talks and round-table debates, which will reflect, debate and inform about contemporary creation practices.
Expository section: Combines the diffusion of these practices with a fun approach. Made up of a variety of different expository presentations –exhibitions, multi-disciplinary presentations, audiovisual programmes, fashion shows, sound sessions- to be adapted to the specific formats of the selected type of production.

Venues and accessibility: The showcase, which has its base in Donostia-San Sebastián, offers programmes in a variety of cultural and artistic venues around the city, as well as special editions in other locations. MID_E is committed to a high-quality selection which can be freely accessed in an environment that encourages a relaxed approach to the concepts being presented.
MID_E will be presented in, among other venues: Arteleku, Tabakalera, KM kulturunea and the Principal Theatre in Donostia-San Sebastián, the Guggenheim Museum, BilbaoArte and Bilborock in Bilbao or the Montehermoso cultural centre in Vitoria-Gasteiz.

Established professionals alongside new talents

MID_E promotes fresh creation, both from Basque artists as well as those from other parts of the state and around Europe.
