MID_E is a reflection and visibility platform around expressions oriented to reach society via the interaction with diverse media related to arts,urban culture and the industry: plastic and visual arts, performing and action arts, contemporary fashion, digital and multimedia creation, photography, internet, audiovisual and graphic communication, music and sound creation...
MID_E pays special attention to the development and promotion of hybrid creative practices: inter/multi/trans-disciplinary projects, formats relating audiovisual arts and other disciplines (videoart, video-dance, video-performance, fashion video-art,AV projects), multimedia performance art, contemporary fashion projects and art projects incorporating textile media, net-art, sound art interventions…
MID_E focuses in languages and formats able to combine immediacy, quality and the potential to promote thinking and debate. Gender, identity, medium and communication are some of the priority key issues of the exhibition curatorship.
MID_E stands as a forum devoted to the promotion and dissemination of these contemporary practices: a framework for the encounter, debate and development aimed at professionals as well as non-specialised audiences.
_From its site in San Sebastian, Spain, it establishes collaborative and exhibition networks with artists and organizations from several countries.
_The selection of projects,the format of its exhibition tours and the gradual expansion of its framework reinforces the approachable and participative nature of MID_E. The exhibition programmes have been located at various artistic and cultural venues such as: Arteleku, International Centre for Contemporary Culture-Tabakalera, Principal Theatre, San Telmo Museum, KM Kulturunea, Miramar Palace in San Sebastian or the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
EMERGING ARTISTS ALONGSIDE STABLISHED PROFESSIONALS
MID_E promotes the emerging creation of local, Spanish and international panorama. It favours the dissemination of their work with all the exhibition facilities and promotional resources available and the invaluable support of participating renowned professionals. So far and among others MID_E has hosted the participation of: Andrey Bartenev, Nigel Bennett, Carles Congost, Laurent Dombrowicz, Bart Hess, Michel Mallard, Olga Mink, Joan Morey, Pyuupiru, No Bra, Diane Pernet, Gareth Pugh, Eugenio Recuenco, Daniel Riera, Henrik Vibskov, Voshardt&Humphrey, Wendy&Jim.
Reflection-Laboratory section Workshops, lectures and round tables set for the reflection, debate and introduction of these contemporary art practices.
Exhibition section It contains a variety of specific programmes and exhibitive formulations adapted to the selected interventions: Exhibitions, multidisciplinary presentations, audiovisual and music programmes, art-clubs.
